This month I am almost done reading Squirm by Carl Hiassan I am on page 238 out of 260. I this story Billy goes to find his dad who his mom has been divorced from since he was 5. As he adventures deeper into his dad’s story he finds out that his dad is protecting animals from different poachers. As he keeps doing this though one of the poachers catches on and is chasing Billy’s dad throughout the state of Montana. Though as far as I have read the poacher has yet to been captured and is still hunting Billy’s dad. I liked this book because it was a mystery and somebody was being hunted by another person and it was full of action. My favorite character in the book is Billy because he stands up for others. One quote to prove this is “I couldn’t just watch this happen to the poor kid, so next thing I know I’ve got the bully in a head lock.” (Pg. 52) This shows this because he stood up to the bully who was bullying another kid. My favorite quote is “I couldn’t just watch this happen to the poor kid, so next thing I know I’ve go the bully in a head lock.” (Pg 52) I liked this quote because the main character was outlawed at his school before that but after it showed that Billy really cared.

If I could have any job in the entire world it would be a professional sports commentator. I would like this job because I love talking about sports and watching sports. I know a lot about the different sports and they are all really fun to watch. Another reason I would like this job is because I know the rules about the games and would be able to explain them to people watching these sports. My final reason I would like this job is it is a very well paying job and I would get a lot of money for what I’m doing. I would also get to go down to the fields/courts to meet different players from different teams. As you can see this is what I want to do when I grow up.

In this month a read the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Getaway by Jeff Kinney. In the book Greg and his family are feeling really stressed for the holidays this year and they decide to take a vacation to a tropical resort where there are many conflicts. Gregs family finds animals that they have never seen before and cause problems for them throughout the book. I enjoyed this book because it was full of hilarious action and suspense. My favorite character in this book is Greg Heffley. One character trait I like about him is that he is fearful. One piece of evidence to prove the is in the book he says “ WHAT THE HECK IS THAT!? That looks like it came straight from Jurassic park!” (Pg 63) This proves he is fearful because he talks about a movie about dinosaurs and compares it to the animal he sees. One of my favorite quotes in this book is “every once in a while I think about exercising and getting really buff.” (Pg 89) I thought this quote was hilarious and it came out of nowhere.

I was invisible for twenty four hours! To start my invisible day I woke up and I went to the store and I turned invisible I took my groceries and I left. That was the easiest way to rob a grocery store ever! On the walk home I played a prank on a taxi driver signaling for a taxi but when he pulled over nobody was there. It was hilarious! When I got home I put all my groceries away and then I thought I would aim for something bigger. I then bought a bunch of fire works and lit them and then turned invisible! As they went off one by one I watched the sky light up with so many colors! It was amazing. After that I thought I would go have some fun! I turned invisible and snuck into the golden state warriors basketball game by turning invisible I then went straight to court side and watched the entire game it was awesome! I have never been to a basketball game and sat court side before. It was awesome seeing all the players up close and seeing how tall they actually are. Overall my invisible day was awesome!

I woke up to the sound of waves crashing along the shoreline. Water hitting my head as I wake up.
“I sit up where am I?” I say to myself.

The last thing I remember is being stranded in the ocean alone. I see a pineapple plant right in front of me and my stomach reminds me that I’m hungry. As I walk towards the pineapple plant something giant comes out running at me and right when I think it’s over for me, it turns and heads straight for the pineapple plant. I blink and the next thing I know there is no more pineapple plant. I slowly crawl away and find a cave. I try to light a fire by rubbing to rocks together over some twigs. I see a boat and I grab all the twigs in the cave and quickly right a sign that says HELP! Next thing I know I see the boat turn and start coming towards me. I was saved!

In my opinion I don’t think we should have school on really rainy days. One reason is because if it is really pouring it is really wet and it is really hard to get from class to class. This could be a reason for a lot of tardy’s during a down pour. Another reason I don’t think we should have school on rainy days is it is really hard to get to school. During rainy days there are more accidents and traffic which means you could be not on time and late to school. In my opinion school should at least start later than it does right now. That way we don’t have to be in such a rush to get to school on time. My final reason we shouldn’t have school on rainy days it is really wet and slippery. When getting to class to class in the rain there is an increased probability for injury because you can slip in puddles or just because it’s wet on the floor. This is another problem for being on time to class. This is why I think we shouldn’t go to school on rainy days.

During the month of January I read the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Meltdown by Jeff Kinney. In the book the main character Greg lives on a street where there is a giant steep hill perfect for sledding. When it snows this time Greg is ready to have a bunch of fun sledding down that hill on his street. But when the other neighborhoods start in fading his street it becomes a big fight over territory involving a lot of snowballs and forts. I liked this book because it was really funny and you never knew what was coming next. For example when Greg is sledding down the hill he gets beaned in the head with a giant snowball and gets knocked off his bed which then puts him into a downward roll and he gets covered up in a giant pile of snow. My favorite character was Greg Heffley. A character trait for him would be manipulative. One piece of evidence is when he is getting invaded by other kids and does not want to get hit with a snowball he tells Rowley to go out and by him some cover so he does and Greg runs inside his house and doesn’t come out leaving his friend all alone with a bunch of crazy kids. My favorite quote from the book is “… I could buy myself a pair of robot legs, I could get a half hour of extra sleep each morning.” I liked this quote because it was really funny and I could totally imagine him sleeping all the way on the walk to school.

“We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.” This is what Dumbledore once said. What this quote means to me is what might feel easy isn’t always right. You could be really good at something but you’re not supposed to be doing that thing because it could be wrong or mean. It could also mean that you might need to work on something more because it doesn’t come easy but you should do it because it is either nice or helpful. I could apply this to my life by not playing as much video games. I know I’m good at them but they are bad for you, so I should start playing less and focusing on other stuff in life like school or basketball.

My hero is my mom. My mom has helped me with a lot of things throughout my life. This year I have had a bunch of homework assignments that I didn’t get and my mom helped me understand those projects, and I got good grades on them. Another reason they are my hero is she pushes me to try things I wouldn’t try on my own. For example she pushed me to go on scary rides around theme parks or water parks. Without her I don’t think I ever would have tried those things and now they are really fun and enjoyable. My final reason my mom is my hero is she Pushes me to try new food. Last week she took my family to a real Chinese restaurant and there were things on the menu that I wouldn’t even go near but we ordered that stuff and they ended up being really good. Without her none of this would have happened and that is why my mom is my hero.

My word of intention for 2024 is practice. My goal is to get better at the things I like whether it’s sports like basketball or football. My goal is to practice those sports at least 4 times a week. In 2023 I broke my ankle in November and I want to have a full, good recovery. I want to be back to playing sports and still be able to run and play well. Once my ankle fully recovers I want to go on mile long runs around my neighborhood. My goal for this is to get my stamina up and get faster mile times for school. I also want to a better job on preparing for tests in school. Last year I didn’t get the scores I wanted on my math tests so I am going to focus on studying for math. How I will do this is by doing the homework to my best ability and ask a lot of questions. Overall I just want it to make sense to me. My last goal for the new year is to get better at Fortnite. I want to be able to beat my friends more easily. These are my words of intention for the year.
